Definitely, especially with cross-platform in mind. Python I found to be
very easy to get going with, although I have only dabbled.

It's not so much C# as the .NET framework. The language is pretty much
like Java or any of the 'curly braces' brigade. The framework however is
huge and covers many bases - you don't need to cover it all.
