Get a Zebra...$250 to $300, but be prepared to pay a nice price for the 
thermal labels. You can get one as part of your UPS or FedEx contract 
for $2/week, and if it ever craps out, they replace it for free. Of 
course, you pay for it several times over if you keep it for a few years...

Also, I have had bad printing performance with thermal printers in 
non-climate controlled environments like warehouses....especially in 
sub-32-degree cold.
