Michael, I see that behavior from time to time in multiple applications. Even with the task manager icon sitting in the system tray not showing anything of excitement. I have the feeling the Windows clipboard manager, or the keyboard controller has part to do with the problem. One thing I've done, sometimes with success, is press each Control, Alt, and Shift keys available on the keyboard. Sometimes they get stuck electronically down. Nothing wrong with the physical keyboard, but something goes awry with the software internally.
