Ya know, this convo got me to thinking...

Just about every place I've worked (5 jobs) in the last 14 years since
moving here to Eugene Oregon, I've had a foreign born coworker there...

At one place we had 3 Brits (2 of the 3 very good, one not so much (all
hat and no cowboy))... one was software dev, the other in Sales...

The next place had another Brit - very good... mechanical engineer and
production...

Next had a fellow originally from Nigeria but grew up in England
somewhere - also very good... general IT and networking along w/ systems
admin...

Currently have a guy from Pakistan for a coworker - how he got here
(USA) or how long he's been here I have no idea... general IT and
network support... very good...

I've heard Eugene is something of a miniture melting pot of a place
having very liberal views on things, so maybe that's part of how these
folks gravitated here - an openness to "diversity" at least in the sense
of foreign nationality...

Thanks,
