Malcolm, Pspad is a very nice freeware text/code editor. The user-defined syntax highlight seems simple enough...

Anyone have any recommendations on an editor and/or activex control that supports the ability to customize its syntax highlighting? By syntax highlighting I mean where the editor formats source code using different colors and font styles. I'm working on an application that uses a very simple syntax (markup language) for data entry and would like to recommend an editor to my users where I can easily configure syntax rules for their custom language. The markup languge/syntax in question is simple, but proprietary. The best alternative would be for me to use an ActiveX component that provides a syntax highlighting capability so I can integrate the editing part of the process into the main application vs. forcing users to use an external editor and their main application. I know there are a bunch of editors that support custom syntax highlighting (and a few activex controls that do the same) but I have no experience with how easy any of these products are to work with. If you've created your own syntax highlighting rules for an editor or activex I would love to hear about your experience and recommendations. Thanks! Malcolm
