We also use webfaction because of a recommendation from someone on this list. 
They are not the cheapest, but they are
fast, reliable and always available.  It is easy to get around on their web 
site. They do not have the Godaddy clutter
(who designed that thing?).

It is Linux based. The setup is much more difficult than it should be and they 
are not helpful. They seem to assume that
you know Linux. They have no patience with Windows users and make unhelpful 
comments when you ask how to do something
like transfer a folder of files from Windows to their server. I know that 
windows is garbage but since 99.9% of our
clients use it - it does not make sense to fight it or pretend that it does not 
exist. I would jump to Linux in a
second, but I would be all alone in my market.
