Timely that you put this out there...

Just last night I saw my brother for the first time in about 6 years
(he's out in Ithaca New York) and we've had a rather estranged
relationship all this time... yes, we worked things out last night over
some beers...

Anyway, we graduated college together (GO BEAVERS) back in '85 - he got
a Math degree, I got a Math Science (focus on Statistics). He tried corp
America and failed, I went out and 'succeeded' at least to some extent
(and managed to dual career in law enforcement 13 years). He was
bragging up his teaching job and salary and I didn't have the heart to
tell him I was making that much or more 15 years ago...

Other than getting a teaching certificate he's never done much of
anything with his degree, whereas I have at least been in the tech field
for over 20 years. He'll never advance past where he is at and he's
starting to get a glimmer to that reality.

I am very concerned about 'remaining relevant', but on the other hand,
wouldn't mind doing something entirely different and just walk away form
this line of work. I have it and am willing to let it go, he's never had
it and can only dream about it...

Thanks,
