I looked at one of the betas briefly. I got the impression that it would be easy enough to do stuff as long as it fell into the patterns that Lightswitch is designed around, but if you needed to go outside the box it involved an amount of faffing that sort of negated the benefits of using it in the first place. May have changed since then, however.
