I have a little experience in this area.
Yahoo Stores (http://smallbusiness.sbc.yahoo.com/merchant/index.php?)
can handle the inventory, sales and payments. The data is downloaded
from the site as csv files. This way the yahoo store keeps track of
sales taxes, shipping rates, etc...you don't have to.
From there, you could use a VFP system to drive the fulfillment
process. I worked for a time last year on a contract with a company
that supplied fulfillment software (written in FPW2.6) that was VERY
expensive. They also stiffed me for many thousands of dollars of
invoices...but that's not relevant. What is relevant is that once the
data is downlaoded from yahoostores is when there's a good VFP
opportunity to help them to fill orders.
There may be something similar at Google and I'm sure there are other
internet "stores" available.
I hope this helps.

Anyone have - or know of - a software/database product that supports a
junk yard selling inventory (used car/truck parts) on the net?
I've got a local guy with such a yard, a few acres of cars/parts, and
he'd like to get into selling on the net, if it can be done profitably.
I'm thinking that in addition to basic database features, the product he
needs would have to include price lists and connections with shippers
who handle that kind of stuff. Thinking a little about it, I can see
it's a whole 'nuther world, but then maybe someone has taken this on?
