Michael,

Indeed.

The PPD file doesn't exist because in OS X 10.11 I am not allowed to put files in /usr/share/cups/model/xr4510dt.ppd even as root:

[Ricks-Mac:~] rcc2% sudo /usr/bin/gzip -c /tmp/inp676/xpdrivers/xr4510dt.ppd > /usr/share/cups/model/xr4510dt.ppd.gz
/usr/share/cups/model/xr4510dt.ppd.gz: Operation not permitted.

It works fine in OS X 10.10.

Do you have any advice as to where I should put the PPD file? Is it necessary for me to put it anywhere? Can I just create the print queue and then delete the PPD file?

I can send you my perl script if that would help. Or not.

Yours,
-Rick

Rick,

More than likely that PPD file simply does not exist. (that is the error
message)

Hi!

I'm using the following command to create a print queue under OS X 11 Beta:

/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p upson2 -E -P
/usr/share/cups/model/hp_laserjet_600_m601_m602_m603.ppd.gz -o
auth-info-required=username,password -v
'http://cups.server:631/printers/printer2?encryption=always'

I get the error:

Failure
Error while creating queue 'printer2'
lpadmin: Unable to open PPD
"/usr/share/cups/model/hp_laserjet_600_m601_m602_m603.ppd.gz": Unable to open
PPD file
lpadmin: Unable to open PPD
"/usr/share/cups/model/hp_laserjet_600_m601_m602_m603.ppd.gz" - No such file or
directory

Actually, I'm not really getting this error. I might be getting this error if
I could install OS X 11 Beta in a Parallels 11.0.0 VM. But I can't. I have
reported this bug to Parallels.

Instead, one of our students has installed OS X 11 Beta on his workstation, and
is getting this error. I have not yet been able to get access to his
workstation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Rick
