Thanks, Duane. For anyone else who is in the same situation with
Postfix on FreeBSD, Duane's suggestion worked very well -- I made
copies of the key files, did a pkg_delete on the old version,
make-install-clean on the new one, and did a 'postfix
upgrade-configuration'. I also did a /usr/bin/newaliases to be safe
(but was probably unnecessary). Then 'postfix start', and things are
humming along nicely.
Or I thought they were. I now have some very strange things going on.
If I do a "postfix reload", I am told that postfix is not running.
But if I telnet to localhost on port 25, it opens the connection. It
seems to be receiving mail, but not sending. Doing a "mailq" shows
the incorrect queue directory (versus what is in my main.cf).
I suspect that I actually have two different versions of postfix
installed -- and different commands are being executed by different
versions. Any idea how to fix this without breaking things farther?
