does mailing ports@ help? much more likely, did upstream not make the decision? why not engage them and express your outrage? if it is not a ports decision, do you expect one cry in the wilderness to cause this small ports diff maintainance team to carry yet-another-diff which undoes an upstream decision, and each time a a new upstream version shows up, have to re-analyze the delta to make sure if doesn't cause harm? i did not look. i don't know who's decision it is, but i know we cannot collectivise the shifts and wims of a community fragment upon the downstream merge team, it is unsustainable effort for them. summary: i think you mailed the wrong list.
