Forget this bug report...

After digging more into the problem, I found out that some videos have lower 
volume levels than others. That's all.
For the "right" videos, the highest level on the volume bar corresponds to 127, 
for other videos it's 64 or even 58.
In Firefox, there's an about:config knob called "media.volume_scale", which is 
a kind of amplification setting: it gets multiplied by the value of the stream 
volume.
