I don't know about this. There's no "72 col for DESCR" rule in ports. I think 72 was mainly a common value because it allows a couple of ">" quotes for news/email without flowing past 80 cols. If it looks good then fmt -w 72 is fine, but in this case the textflow seems pretty ugly to me that way. My rule of thumb for DESCR "keep it below 80 and try to make it pleasant to read". But then I'm one of those people who tweaks line lengths in emails by hand if par or fmt's attempts are too ugly...
