Kamailio is in ports already. It is a bit of a different thing than
Asterisk though, think of it as more of a SIP message router, rather
than a standard PBX.

I've never had a SIP provider who needed this, but I think it's
"expiry" in this line (see share/examples/asterisk/default/sip.conf):

; Asterisk can register as a SIP user agent to a SIP proxy (provider)

I assume this notation means that it requires a literal ~ symbol.
