all the tex distributions have been historically known to fall
behind quite some versions with all these rapidly developing
tools like pdftex and context. context has a new version out
every second week, sometimes even more often. it is just
impossible to keep up with their mailing list :]

during the lifetime of the teTeX port for example context
and pfdtex were basically useless. but it was quite easy
to upgrade the components i wanted (the old wiki page
on the context site describes it).

to have these selective updates, i think the texlive
package would have to be chopped up into smaller chunks.
i am a doubtful that this process would be easier and/or
faster than putting together this alternative package.
once i figure out the gnu roadblocks, keeping it up to date
will be a piece of cake. i have problems even with these
'simple' packages, i am not taking on a huge thing like
texlive, sorry :]

i am not planning to have this as an official port, i am not
sure how many openbsd users use context (well, it will be
usable for pure texicians and xetexians as well come to think
of it), i just want to make a nice little port for myself
and reap the benefints. of course, anyone will be welcome
to use it.
