DVD tested only now, CURRENT, NEC ND-2500 with 2510 firmware, 1GB RAM.
All tests were run with multisession mode off and on DVD+RW 4x media and
only one time and under normal user (except one specified below) which
takes part in "operator" group. /dev/rcd0c is 0660 root:operator.
"Create image" enabled, "Verify" disabled, software buffer auto:
- OK
"Create image" enabled, "Verify" disabled, software buffer 96MB:
- OK
"Create image" disabled, "Verify" enabled, software buffer auto:
- Test run under root: system almost halted: no DVD-writer or HDD
activity heard (HDD LED doesn't work:( ), sometimes mouse pointer moves,
Ctrl+Alt+F1 had no effect in a few minutes => reset.
- Test run under normal user: same as with software buffer 96MB plus:
- - I pressed "Eject/load" button on drive immediately when it ejected
disc, and then verify process was started OK.
"Create image" disabled, "Verify" disabled, software buffer 96MB:
- Software buffer exhausts at start and do not fill again, then device
buffer exhausts and keeps jumping between 0% and ~50%.
"Create image" enabled, "Verify" disabled, software buffer 96MB:
- Written OK, failed to load media after burn, so verifying wasn't done
(maybe it was too much time between eject and manual load, I was off the
machine for a few minutes).
"Create image" disabled, "Verify" enabled, software buffer 96MB:
- Software buffer exhausts at start and do not fill again, then device
buffer exhausts and keeps jumping between 0% and ~50%. Failed to load
media after burn, verifying started after manual load but didn't occur
really: DVD-RW LED was blinking and no progress except "elapsed time"
was seen - i.e. normal drive life with K3b started.
... And, finally, many thanks to this approach :)
