I think a fix like that should not go into ports, not only because the patch is too "clever" (please patch + make update-patches next time). However, I am sure that upstream will appreciate it. You could file a bug report ticket at http://trac.xiph.org/ and attach a (real) patch for the relevant files to it; ideally against http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/trunk/icecast.
