Anyways, I can confirm that this patch still works on i386, and now VAX,
too. Thanks! It only took about 3 hours (perceived time) longer than
usual because of the autoconf run. :P
Btw, CONFIGURE_STYLE = autoconf would be enough, as it implies "gnu".
