People "should be using" whatever they need.  And some people need
PHP4.  There is no reason for them to upgrade to 5, so for the people
who have code that doesn't work in 5, there's no incentive to rewrite
it.

That's just plain dumb.  It doesn't hurt to leave the port there for
people who need it.
