I'm still working on setting it up in single-user mode and seeing if it works on normal startup... I tried using /rescue/vi and it doesn't seem to work until /usr or /var are mounted. Has vi always had such a restriction? Even sh tries to write to /root by the history function. I thought it would be necessary to double-check if the /rescue binary could be used for rescue. Regards.
