this had been fixed long time ago, shortly after the release. I guess
you are not subscribed to the list that long, otherwise you'd save you

To be fair, I think there might be a release done some time ago, with
that ugly thing being fixed, thus everyone could benefit from the fix,
not only trunk users, or those whom backport only particular changes.

Well, every release has bumped soname version, thus I do not know what
silence you are talking about. If you happen to use the development
version, then that's the price, but I doubt you do, because you are
~5 months late from a fix for r1810.
