Hi Tijl, the idea makes sense. Unique comment is that you will need to fire one instance of pmacctd per each NIC on your monitor box. Each of these will either kick out SQL statements or NetFlow datagrams. I agree that if you have the NetFlow monitoring software, it's better to choose that way.
pmacctd is able to deal with SQL statements since its origins. Instead, you will require latest version to deal with (outgoing) NetFlow datagrams. EXAMPLES document (it's in the source distribution tarball), section IX, includes a basic example on how to do this. Actually it's _already_ able to speak both NetFlow v5 and v9 (Does this match your feature request?). About pmacct-fe, well, you should be supposedly stepping on my shoes. But that's absolutely not the case as i'm conscious of its status. You know, it's matter of spare time, priorities, coding language preferences, etc. So, there is room for whoever wishes to fit into this side.
