I am surprised that you had problems with that. If the programs didn't
exist then I'd expect the related file types would show 'disabled'. I
installed a straight LMS version 7.7 at some point in the past, and have
upgraded since to 7.8 and then 7.9, and never had to fiddle with faad or
ia32-libs etc on my xubuntu 14.04 system.

You shouldn't be getting much buffering either. Admittedly I have a
fast broadband link, but unless yours is quite limited I wouldn't expect
issues.

LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit,
44.1->192kbps. LMS & Squeeze2upnp to MF M1 CLiC (to MF amp & ESLs) &
Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Minimserver (server) & upplay (control
point) to same renderers & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to
Meridian USB Explorer DAC to speakers/phones. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04
laptop with firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.   Have a Touch
with EDO, and a spare, but don't use.
