I tried "pulse", but audio quality is worsened, and I got lots of
errors:

Still not able to start it as a daemon with /etc/init.d/squeezelite... 
Strange, because I found lots of tutorials googling around that describe
that procedure.

Tried also:

gian@HP-Z210-GLS:~$ sudo update-rc.d squeezelite defaults
[sudo] password for gian: 
System start/stop links for /etc/init.d/squeezelite already exist.
