Thanks. I'll check them out. The MusicIP playlists worked really well for me, eclectic enough to be interesting but still worked as a playlist. It really through up an interesting mix. A web based system based on the tag information at the client side and a centrally hosted database of tags combined with an algorithm and parameters to control spread would work really nicely.
