I have this setup working on WHS for SB 7.4.2 and MusicIP 1.9b6.

I had the same problem with getting the M icon next to files.
One thing you need to make sure is that both systems are pointing to
same location. Is the music local? if it is, I would recommend
pointing both systems to the music via the network shares of your
server. The file system of WHS is configured very cleverly and problems
can arise if you work directly with the file system.

Secondly in MusicIP, I have my Services port set to 10003 not 10002
with all services disabled(unchecked). Not sure how that works but it
is a vital step of getting the 2 to work with each other(I seem to
remember).

Turn off WHS firewall.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't, either way you are
right!
*SS*(7.4.1 - r28761) on *WHS SP2*(VMWare 1.8 Device(No Sound Card))
*Slimp3*(FW 2.3), *Receiver*(FW 65) & *Controller*(7.4.1 r7822).
