sorry for the slow response. I had subscribed to the thread, but I didn't get any messages to say there was a response. Also, I don't know if my forum account is still being moderated, so it may take a few hours before this message is seen. I've been through the same sequence as SamY, and I can confirm the same result: using the squeeze2cast-static binary you uploaded to dropbox solves the issue for me. I hadn't spotted that the system seemed to work fine for the first few tracks, as my general use is to have a large playlist of my favourite tracks and to play this on shuffle. Well spotted SamY.
