How about controlling Squeezelite rather than Jivelite?

Others might have ideas about getting it to start when there is no real screen but my guess is that you would have to tell the hardware to pretend that there is one. In the days before KMS (when RPi used fkms) you could do it via settings in config.txt (hdmi_force_hotplug=1 perhaps). There is probably an equivalent in the KMS world but I have not looked.
