I have no idea but it sounds like a client (Material Skin) problem. Does it happen only when switching TO the plugin player, FROM the plugin player, or both? I would need a plugin debug log showing the time period where the behavior occurs in order to see what triggers the volume spike. If you can't replicate the problem on demand, you might want to just turn debug on and leave it on until it happens, then upload the log file along with an indication of what time it occurred.
