OK. Right now with the new version we are doing nothing with the volume
other than asking the Denon to set the Quick Select option if you so
indicated, which would have a stored volume. Then the player is
completely responsible for adjusting the output of the analog signal.

And the problem you are seeing, which is adverted by setting the player
to 100% fixed, is that the Denon now has a fixed volume and the player
is sending some portion of the maximum volume of a track to the Denon.
So you are getting two attenuations.

I am not sure what we could do to help you. We can detect what the
maximum volume of the Denon is, even though we currently ask you to set
that in Settings. We can also detect what the current volume of the
Denon is. And of course we know what the volume % of the Squeezebox is
too.

But you are now artificially confined to a new maximum setting, whatever
the volume is on the Denon.

I might not fully understand what you would like to have done.
Ultimately you are going to be confined by the Denon's volume in our
current implementation. So if the Denon's volume is at 50% and your
player is at 50% your actual track volume is 25% of the capacity it can
be.

I would assume that in analog mode you would set your Quick Select to
the loudest volume level you ever want to play from the Squeezebox and
then use the Squeezebox volume control (or client) to send a % of that
to the Denon.
