I see two potential issues: 
1) the older version caused an issue
2) something is wrong with your multiple architecture setups.

For 2) can you check if /var/lib/dpkg/arch contains arm and i386? and
that this is true:
You have to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file and every file in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d, adding [arch=armhf] behind each occurence of
deb

For 1) you can remove the old package by apt-get purge ".*:i386
