Is there a 7.9.x build that has this disabled? I ran into the same problem after my Win 10 server was updated. Running release version of 7.9.2 currently and have disabled MAI artist photos for now since it causes the LMS service to crash.
The breaking change never was applied to 7.9. Therefore I must assume you're suffering from some other issue. What MAI version are you using? Anything in server.log?
