I did a re-install recently, and definitely needed a real device ID; though it did take a few tries to get it working. One way you can obtain that is to run the script mobile_devices.py (it should be in the plugin folder somewhere, but if you can't find it, try getting it from https://github.com/squeezebox-googlemusic/squeezebox-googlemusic/blob/master/mobile_devices.py )
