Yeah, I've seen that. However, not all lists would look nice as grids (e.g. genres) The how do you auto detect which to use? Or even when to allow the option. If its a user setting, most users would expect this to be remembered. So, what happens for apps - e.g. browsing YouTube, should the skin remember for each search which view to use? This would quickly add up to a lot of info stored.
