Thanks pinkdot. There's an easier way, though: you should be able to
drop a copy of spotty as spotty-custom anywhere in your binary search
path and it should be picked up.

That said I'm going to re-write the helper application discovery code.
It seems that on quite a few systems the second choice would work better
than the first: eg. the i686 build would work on a x86_64 system. Or in
your case the armhf build on a device not discovered as hf
compatible...
