Thanks for the pointer - I'd not been looking at that other thread.

I must admit to being a bit surprised by that behaviour, but I'll check
on my system tonight. I don't use "new music" so I've not seen an issue
one way or the another.

When you've reported "slowness following the end of the real scan", are
you sure that the database "lazification" is finished, or is that still
in progress (you can tell from the server log file if you have
--d_plugins turned on because the plugin reports its progress as it's
going through the database).

Anyway, watch this space...
