Joe, Better late than never. :-) Hint: When you click to insert test or an image, you might need to adjust the box up or down to get the text just where you want it. Don't assume the default location is fixed. Alan's mention of qpdf prompted me to look at it. This seems quite similar to the pdftk (PDF Toolkit) which I've used for years.
