Russell,

   Quite a few years ago a saleman at ENU, Inc. told me that certain models
of hard drives within a manufactuers' product line were more failure prone
than are other models. While I don't buy as many drives as you SysAdmins
(and network admins), I've found this advice to be true.

   While I've had several drives fail over the years only one WD 'Black'
failed quickly and the company quickly replaced it under warranty.
