Michael,

   Yes, I did. The only copy is in /usr/bin/. As xmodmap is part of the
distribution a copy would not have ended up in /usr/local/bin.

   My last distribution upgrade was 28 days ago and xmodmap invoked
~/.Xmodmap as usual until last week.
