I believe you ALWAYS want a swap partition so your system doesn't crash
when you run out of real memory. Of course you don't ever want to actually
use it, it's more of an insurance policy, Just In Case.

2x or 3x (or even 1x) system memory size for swap is rather too much, in my
humble opinion, in the age of many-gigabyte ram systems.

Even on a system with 8 GB that has never come near using up real memory
I've seen a piddling amount of swap in use, which I conveniently ignore
because it's not significant or worth the trouble to track down.

All of the above might be obsolete, but it's how I roll.
