Hello,

When I was still working with the local Seagate disty, we were able to
resurrect a lot of dead drives, by just swapping out the HD electronics from an
exact working model.

You need a set of torx tipped screwdrivers (fairly common today, because of
cellphones). Once the drive spins up and is recognized, transfer the contents
to a external device.

We do the swap, just for the data. the defective unit is sent back for warranty
repairs.

REgards,
