Hi:

I'm trying to install grub in my WinXP (Home Edition) laptop (for the
purpose of installing
Linux later). I decided that to use GrubInstall
(http://www.geocities.com/lode_leroy/grubinstall/).

The following is the content of boot.ini (readonly, hidden, system file):
     C:\boot\stage1="GRUB"

     I copied stage1 and stage2 to c:\boot

     I also created a very simple menu.lst in c:\boot:
     default 0
     timeout 8

     title Windows XP
         rootnoverify (hd0,0)
         chainloader (hd0,0) + 1

Am I correct in assuming that whitespace are allowed before "rootnoverify"
and "chainloader"?
Grub manual did not say anything about whitespaces.

     According to the INSTALL.txt file:
The defaults are such that if you put the files in C:\boot you can simply
go for
"grubinstall"; hence I ran "grubinstall"

I rebooted my computer, and no menu appeared. There was a message but
before I can jot it
down; it disappeared.

Any ideas why it didn't work?

Regards,
Ludwig
