I only have around 200 clients, I will try it and see what effect an sql based 
dhcpd have with regards to speed. My idea is that, dhcpd will only refresh 
configuration every (x) minutes or can be forced to refresh only if necessary. 
Since this is only serving a private ip, maybe having a secured web interface 
for reserving an IP is not much of a security threat.

Speed wise you may not want to do that as dhcpd is a very busy service at 
times and is better not to be doing lookups to a sql server all the time.
