Try to use 'nmap' on your pc to see which port is open and you could configure your firewall with firestarter(previously configuring using gui messed up manually configured config files) that is if you haven't made or you're not the one who configured your iptables and this is a personal pc. Make sure you check your ip config, using ifconfig on linux.
