No, I'm not Ian :-).  

It's on aesthetic grounds mostly. the APIs have gotten 
too large I can't even keep track of what APIs are 
available, let alone learn more than the basic APIs.

Apart from that, I could never stand how gross some APIs
are (Calendar, etc).  When CompSci-happy people get all
hyper about design patterns, java is what falls out of their
heads.  I like my APIs to be minimal and not excessively
general.  the design choices made by the java people may
be appropriate for extremely general enterprise-y software
and enterpricey consultants, but it's just plain ugly
to me.

I'm going to have to play around with java again, of 
course. but it's not going to be because I enjoy it.
