Installation.... just installation.
In fedora, you only need to select the Developer's packages(?), not sure what 
it's called. 
In ubuntu, it can be a pain for those starting out since you need to search 
for the packages individually in the repository. And currently, there's no 
meta-package for java development.... you have to search for applications you 
need. Synaptic's your bestfriend here.

both are easy. no comparison here since both automatically detects and
