Sorry to be pedantic about it, Linux doesn't do the replication, but
the domino servers themselves do that.

If you look at the e-mail trail, some of his servers are not clustered
and does not have a spare server.

Think again, the freeware Veritas Storage Foundation Basic(Veritas
Volume Manager and Veritas File System in one) exists, with some
limitations.

This is a valid solution too, but was hesitant to say it unless your a
unix admin.

It has a steep learning curve, has much better features and
administration is a pleasure to use compared to LVM... except maybe
ZFS.
