Hi Jon, Thanks for the links, it will be RHEL4 and with 8 GB of RAM that's why I'm alloting same size for swap which is also ecommeded by the 1st link you provided. My scenario is we need to reserve space for additional file system requirements or expansion if needed. What will be the best way to make this system flexible to carve out additional LVs in the future and avoid the mistake of assigning PEs or LEs in a single LVs?
BTW, I find it more easier and flexible to carve out VGs and LVs in the SAN than in internal disks. Thad On 4/24/07, Gabriel Briones <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
8GB is too much for a swap for RHEL3, but for RHEL4 and above, 8GB is the recommended size if your RAM is 8GB. you can use the following link to fine tune your swap and oracle system. 1.) http://www.puschitz.com/TuningLinuxForOracle.shtml#SwapSizeRecommendations 2.) http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_80_2506.shtm Regards, -jon- On 4/25/07, thad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi list, > > I have a raid 5 200gig disk space and I'm planning to allot 10G for / > in 1 LV, 8G for swap in another LV and reserved the rest as unalloted > PE for future file system requirement for Oracle and DBs which we plan > to put each in separate LVs once we got the specs for its requirement. > The 8G for swap allotment is equal to the memory size.
