I am using "app specific passwords" and sign-in using google account is disabled. But there are differing views about whether this arrangement would sustain beyond 30 May. (E.g. [1]) Google hasn't assured that it would. They are only talking about whether they find the authentication protocol secure or not - whatever it means, not objectively stated. Such a large email provider should have communicated it better and also provided an environment to test it out beforehand instead of keeping people guessing and directly pulling the plug on some.
